The Dining Room Bookcase project came about because of the Curio Cabinet project (right) in which two bookshelves were converted to curio cabinets. That project left the dining room floor littered with books. The bookcase is semi-modular; the top, doors, and back are easily removable, as the unit would be difficult to move fully assembled. The top is large enough to be useful as a buffet. The back was the last piece to be installed; it went on, and the books went in, on Saturday, November 23, 2001. The wood is red oak. All hardware is solid brass.
