Update August 14, 2004
A Start on the Floor

Above and below: August 14, 2004: I installed the floor joists between rains, slipping often on the muddy, sloping ground. These three 2x8 joists, oddly spaced out of necessity, will be more than adequate to support the two-layer floor—3/4" exterior plywood topped by white oak planks. The posts and stringers will carry virtually all of the weight of the observatory superstructure.
And then again came the rain, and the rain begat more mud.
